Professional Experience

Kristin Stranger serves as Assistant Director for the Bureau of Workforce Services, South, with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). In this role, she supports the district offices in the south part of county and the regional Greater Avenues for Independence (GAIN) offices countywide in the delivery of food, cash aid, and health coverage benefits and Welfare-to-Work services to millions of eligible Los Angeles County residents.

She has worked in health and human services administration in California for 18 years at both the state and county levels. Prior to DPSS, Kristin served as the Health and Human Services Agency Director in Calaveras County, California. There she was responsible for the administration of protective services, public benefits, public health, behavioral health, and various other programs and services at the direction of the Board of Supervisors. She has also served as Deputy Director of Community Services with the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency. Prior to county service, Kristin worked for eight years at the California Department of Social Services in both analytical and managerial policy roles in the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) and CalFresh programs.

Education

She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Family

Kristin is married to her wonderful husband, Sam, and they are the proud parents to six awesome children and one rambunctious dog.
